Our Story
Founded in 2008, we are a guide-owned and operated company, a fact that is evident in the personalized and detail-oriented approach we take to trip planning to this day. Initially, Mountain Gurus focused on major mountaineering expeditions to the Seven Summits and other peaks, but gradually, we recognized that our guests craved a more diverse range of adventures, and that we were uniquely qualified to turn those dreams into reality.
Today, Mountain Gurus is still proud to offer international climbs of the world’s great peaks from Nepal, to North America, and the Andes alongside treks, cultural tours, safaris, and multi-adventure trips to meet the ambitions of adventurers of any background or technical ability. Our longstanding relationships around the world, and many years of experience guiding in remote and exotic locations ensure that we provide our guests with trips that are truly exceptional. We believe in the profound impact travel has on the lives of those who dare to explore because we have seen it firsthand, and we are confident that you will feel that philosophy when you choose to explore with us.
Our partner company, Northwest Alpine Guides, is a mountain guide service based in Washington State in the heart of the Cascade Mountain Range. It operates all of our alpine climbs, mountaineering schools and backcountry ski adventures in the Pacific Northwest. Offering ascents of iconic North American peaks such as Mount Rainier, Mount Baker and Mount Shuksan, our domestic itineraries are the perfect preparation for tackling the world’s largest mountains on one of our international expeditions. Our Founder
Dennis Broadwell’s passion for travel began long before Mountain Gurus. In 1993, he joined a volunteer group working in Nepal, a formative experience for his deep appreciation for foreign cultures and the transformative power of world travel. In 1997, Dennis began his career as a mountain guide and spent the next decade working for highly respected guide services in Washington State, New Hampshire, and on international expeditions. In 2008, Dennis founded Mountain Gurus, eager to bring his own approach and experience to the world of adventure travel.
