Routes: South Face – Rating 5.3 – Direct
Climb Description: Approached via the Snow Lake Trail at 7:00 am. Crossed over above Source Lake and ascended steep talus slopes into Great Scott Basin. We climbed the route in three pitches. Rapped in two pitches. We also rapped Pineapple Pass and descended the melted out slopes above source lake (slow moving compared to early season). Elevation Gain 2500′
Pitch 1 – 5.3 – Class 3/4
Pitch 2 – 5.3 – Class 3/4
Pitch 3 – Class 3/4 – 5.3
Weather: Clear with warm temps and breezy!
Notes: “We won the race to be the first party on the route” We passed up a party of six in the basin and raced to Pineapple Pass.
